Aertssen Group Expands to the United States

On August 14, 2024, we proudly announced the opening of our newest international logistics site in Savannah, Georgia. This expansion marks a significant milestone in Aertssen Group's global growth and strengthens our position as a leading provider of efficient machinery logistics solutions.

An Impressive Growth Journey

Ten years ago, Aertssen Logistics was established as a new department within Aertssen Group, alongside our well-established divisions Aertssen Infra and Aertssen Lifting. What began with a focus on limited storage for machinery in the construction, mining, and agricultural sectors has evolved into one of the most important players in Europe. Our three strategically located Equipment Processing Centers (EPC) – in Kallo, Verrebroek, and Zeebrugge – serve the European market, and a fourth center is planned in Beringen.

These EPCs handle the complete outsourcing of logistics activities, such as machine inspections, repairs, and assemblies. Each year, we prepare approximately 30,000 machines for delivery to end customers in the global machinery sector. With the opening of our new site in Savannah, we are taking a significant step towards doubling our capacity by 2030.

Full-Service Center in a Strategic Location

Our new facility in Savannah offers comprehensive logistics services, indoor and outdoor storage, and customized technical services. With its strategic location near the Port of Savannah, a key hub for the southeastern United States, this 130,000-square-meter facility is an ideal logistics center.

“As in Belgium, our slogan ‘People, power, and passion to build on!’ is central here as well,” says Wouter Clissen, General Manager of Aertssen Logistics USA Inc.

Customer-Focused Expansion

The high quality of our infrastructure and the innovative approach we developed in Belgium have led to increasing demand from our global customers to bring this model to the United States. The combination of the sizable U.S. market and its growth potential prompted us to take this leap.

With the opening of the EPC in Savannah, we are taking the next step in our international growth strategy. We plan to open additional locations in Baltimore, Tacoma, and Houston in the coming years to fully support our customers across the U.S. continent.

Successful Start and Future Plans

Our entry into the United States has already been promising. In late May, we received the first machines, and thanks to partnerships with various customers, local expansion is already becoming necessary.

“In everything we do, our customers and employees are central,” says Sam Aertssen, Director of Aertssen Logistics. “While we’ve had a strong start in the U.S., it’s crucial that we maintain sustainable growth. I am very grateful for what we’ve achieved so far and am excited about what lies ahead.”

With this expansion, alongside our offices in Belgium and the Arabian Gulf, we now have a strong presence in America. As a result, our global workforce is growing toward 2,500 employees.
